Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
You can install CloakMC and see other players' capes without an account. To choose and equip a cape of your own, create a free account and link your Minecraft account.
Can everyone see my cape?
Only players who also use CloakMC can see CloakMC capes. Players on vanilla Minecraft, or without the mod, won't see them.
Does the server need Cloak?
No. CloakMC is entirely client-side. It works on any server — nothing needs to be installed server-side.
How do I open the cape menu?
Press Esc and click the cape icon next to "Back to Game", or press N (you can change the key in Controls).
Can I upload animated capes?
Yes, with Premium. Upload an animated GIF, or a PNG sprite sheet with frames stacked vertically (each frame 64×32 or an HD multiple).
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
Minecraft 26.3, 26.2, 26.1.2 on Fabric. Each version has its own build on the Download page.
What happens if my subscription expires?
Premade free capes keep working. Your uploaded capes stay saved in your library but stop showing in-game until you resubscribe, and free accounts can change capes 5 times a day.
Do I need to give you my Microsoft password?
No. CloakMC will never ask for your Microsoft or Minecraft password. Linking uses a short code from your dashboard, and the mod proves you own the account using Minecraft's own session system — your credentials never reach us.
